Leap Day
It's been a few days, I don't know why I
have so much trouble finding the time to blog over the weekend. We went
and took photos for a very long time but the end results were nice. Who
says you shouldn't wear red for photos?

to dream the impossible dream
Ouch! Hurt my foot Monday
night walking around in the middle of the night. It's much better today,
though I'm still going to stick to my slippers until I go to Book Club
tonight.
I found a very cute picture frame for .99 at Target the other
day, that I'm going to ship to D'arby as soon as we get some pictures of the
girls done (maybe Thursday night at the picture people?). It's a
Valentine's Frame that was on clearance from 9.99, but it really just a pretty
feminine, oriental style frame that suits any season.
Rhianna has started
laughing. Sounds a bit like a cough, but it's obvious that she is
laughing. She's starting to scoot around a bit, which means our floors
need to become spotless or at least not crumb treasure troves.
Natalie is
fixated on the idea of jumping into books. She keeps telling me that Steve
can jump into the books and she wants to jump in too. I'm not sure how to
convey to her that I can't make it happen for her. I don't really want to
tell her it's impossible, because many things I may believe impossible truly are
possible as soon as we discover how.
John's quite happy with the new
steam cleaner (it has scrubbing brushes!!) and I'm happy as long as he's
cleaning the carpets not me. Natalie's been rolling around on the ground
saying it smells like fresh laundry (which she loves, she prefers her clothes
fresh out of the dryer).

Finished
Why am I up at this hour? The only time I
could work on the MOMS Club newsletter and I had to finish before morning.
I don't know if I am going to continue doing this next year, elections are
coming up and I am dog tired. I looked at all the other positions and this is
like 4 times the hourly commitment each month of any other
position.

a photographer is born
Natalie loves to use my digital
camera. I've started putting it on our tripod so that she's able to take
steady photos and move it without grabbing the lens. Here's a series of
photos she took of Rhianna and I
Natalie has fallen in love with Dumbo.
She's very enamored with the idea of the circus and fairs right now. Last
night she was trying to step into one of her books where the characters were
visiting a fair. She was very upset that she couldn't because some TV
characters can step into books. Natalie has quite an active imagination,
she roleplays out characters, introduces clipboards to each other, and would
prefer to tell stories about the pictures in books than have someone read her
the story.
Rhianna has started on solids, I knew I had
to give in when she started grabbing my food and bawling when I would pry it
from her fingers. She's getting quite good at rolling front to back.
And when I try to read while lying down and feeding her, she likes to reach back
and push the book out of my hand

the Giver
It looks like the transparency is working
90% right, so close enough. I might fudge around with it a bit later to get it
just right and do some other effects.
Finished reading my Book Club
book, the Giver by Lois Lowry. Typical postapocalyptical stuff with Brave
New world overtones. Mediocre book, but the philospophical questions
should make for an interesting discussion, particularly in light of the gay
marriage controversy. How far should Society go in demanding that we live
a life without risk, change and danger?
Laura Bush says gay marriages are
"a very, very shocking issue" for some people, a subject that should be debated
by Americans rather than settled by a Massachusetts court or the mayor of San
Francisco. Asked how she feels about the issue personally, Mrs. Bush replies:
"Let's just leave it at that."
Speaking of the gay marriage thing, the
funniest comment I heard was from a female talk radio host, "the founding
fathers would be shocked to know that we are allowing gay marriages now"
Yeah, the founding fathers would be shocked about a lot of what we do today,
allow women to vote, hold office, choose when they have children.

Costco had me in it's clutches
Costco had me in it's clutches
again. I swear it always seems to take 2 hours to get out of that
place. Well at least we're full up on salmon and diapers again.
I spent a lot of time there
looking at the fort swing set they had there. I want to get one this year
for the girls. If we can't find a decent one used, we might end
up getting that one. Lorena got a really nice huge one from the evil empire,
Home Depot, but it took them a month of weekends to put it
up. Natalie would be ready for college before we finished. I think I
am going to get a canopied glider swing for me for the back yard so I have
somewhere nice to sit and watch them play. Well I'm off to clean the
kitchen.

Test this
Still working out the kinks in the new
template (thanks to the people at http://www.sharondippity.com)
Now I just need to make my transparency look like their transparency where the
text is smooth and I'll be much happier.
Rhianna's been rolling about quite a bit,
she's really gaining a lot of mobility and becoming more interested in moving
around. She grabs for everything.
John put together these mega bloks (lego
like) dragons that he and Natalie have been playing with together. The
dragons have magnets in their feet and snapping mouths so they can pick up and
fly away with the little lego men-orcs. Not to mention the trapdoors that
lead to lego men-orc deaths. Well it's not as bad as at Christmas when
they played on John Sr's xbox together "Grand Theft Auto 3" merrily carjacking
and pimpslapping some hos

Natalie gave me a fat lip last night! Ok, so she was just swinging her head up for a kiss a little too hard, but it hurts. I wonder if I should take pictures of it so I can use it for guilt trips in the years to come, heh.
I'm feeling either a bit old or a bit neener neener, because my younger sister has more gray hair than me. Well maybe about the same amount, and mine really showed up 7 years ago so close to the same age and it hasn't changed much since. I do think all the coloring really damages our hair long term.
I tried out the store kind over the weekend and really liked it, and then ran across this recipe in the latest issue of my
cooking magazine.
Basil Parmesan Pasta Sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 c olive oil
1/4 c all-purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
4 c fat-free milk
1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp chopped fesh basil
In a nonstick skillet, saute garlic in oil until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until blended (mixture will be thick). Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; gradually stir in Parmesan cheese and basil until cheese is melted.
Yield: 8 servings
Nutritional Analysis: One serving (1/2 cup sauce) equals 132 calories, 8 g fat (1 g saturated fat), 4 mg cholesterol, 554 mg sodium, 10 g carbohydrate, trace fiber, 6 g protein. Diabetic
Exchanges: 1-1/2 fat, 1 fat-free milk

Happy Valentine's Day!
Ok, I've set this to my new start page to remind me to go type every day.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Here's a picture of my sweetie from late Friday night (playing planetside of course):

Rhianna is rolling over back to front and front to back, she started doing this last Thursday, Feb 5th. She started on baby food a little bit on Tuesday, Feb 10, her first taste was mashed bananas (she loves to eat food). She'll be 5 months old Monday.
Natalie is better and I haven't really seen any sign of the malingering cold since she had the nebulizer treatments. She loves imaginative play and when we make up stories together. She wrote her first letter the other day, well it was really a scribble drawing with a bunch of stickers, but the thought was there.

Just been catching up with all my paperwork. I finally found the error in my checkbook balancing from October. While it wasn't causing a problem short term it was driving me nuts. Filed for last year's medical reimbursement and did our taxes. Why do you feel like it is a bounty when it is your own money you gave them in the first place.
Rhianna sick with a cold and fever. Natalie is fine for once, but stripping it at every opportunity.
