the Giver
It looks like the transparency is working
90% right, so close enough. I might fudge around with it a bit later to get it
just right and do some other effects.
Finished reading my Book Club
book, the Giver by Lois Lowry. Typical postapocalyptical stuff with Brave
New world overtones. Mediocre book, but the philospophical questions
should make for an interesting discussion, particularly in light of the gay
marriage controversy. How far should Society go in demanding that we live
a life without risk, change and danger?
Laura Bush says gay marriages are
"a very, very shocking issue" for some people, a subject that should be debated
by Americans rather than settled by a Massachusetts court or the mayor of San
Francisco. Asked how she feels about the issue personally, Mrs. Bush replies:
"Let's just leave it at that."
Speaking of the gay marriage thing, the
funniest comment I heard was from a female talk radio host, "the founding
fathers would be shocked to know that we are allowing gay marriages now"
Yeah, the founding fathers would be shocked about a lot of what we do today,
allow women to vote, hold office, choose when they have children.
