Mallonga sed ege interesa. English version follows. BOULTON Marjorie: Lumo, mallumo kaj kelkaj memoroj. Rotterdam: UEA, 2005. 16p. Boulton, Marjorie: Light, darkness and some memories. Rotterdam: UEA, 2005. 16 p. Marjorie Boulton, well-known poetess and cat-lover, here offers several comments about the Esperanto movement and about her experiences in it during half a century. This is a talk that she gave when she was given the Deguchi Prize at an UEA open house in the fall of 2004. She dedicates the first half to “darkness”, the problems — both internal and external — that are faced by the Esperanto movement; she specifically mentions the historical and political problems that Esperanto has faced and goes on facing in some countries, and, internally, the affair at Hamburg in ‘74 and the ata-ita argument. But afterwards she gives equal space to “light”, and it is just in this part that she braids in her personal memories about help that she was able to give Esperantistss in other countries, and the help that such people were able to give her over the years. (Once, she even succeeds in mentioning a cat that she was able to help through Esperanto.) Short but very interesting. Don Harlow, March 11, 2007 11:07 AMFeedback

| Don Harlow bio info. Born longer ago than he cares to admit, Don Harlow has worked as a military weather forecaster, neophyte astronomer, computer programmer and office manager. His primary avocations are reading science-fiction and fantasy and promoting the international language Esperanto. He has successfully raised three daughters and a son, the oldest of whom (Gwen) is responsible for designing this site and giving it to him as a Christmas present. Movies are, for him, a pleasant way of passing an afternoon or evening; his only connection with the movie industry consists in a long-ago four week period during which he worked as an usher at the Lake Theater in Oswego, Oregon.
