La tri unuaj paĝoj priskribas la eltrovon fare de arkeologoj, en mezorienta antikva ruinvilaĝo, de pluraj argilaj statuoj de junulino, kaj la rezultan disputon pri ilia origino — disputon fine solvitan per la decido, ke temas pri loke adorata diino. La cetero de ĉi tiu novelego rakontas la tragediajn okazaĵojn, kiuj antaŭ centoj aŭ miloj da jaroj trafis la paceman potiston Sabur, lian edzinon Menad, lian amatan filinon Mened, kaj la simpatian najbarknabon Tali en tiu sama vilaĝo kaj rezultigis la statuojn.

Ne tro longa, facile legebla, kaj atentokapta.

This is an interesting novelette.

The first three pages describe the discovery by archaeologists, in an ancient ruined village in the Middle East, of several clay statues of a young woman, and the resulting argument about their origin — an argument finally resolved by the decision that the subject was a locally worshipped goddess. The rest of the novelette tells of the tragic occurrences that, hundreds or thousands of years ago, struck the peaceful potter Sabur, his wife Menad, his beloved daughter Mened, and the likeable neighbor-boy Tali in that same village and resulted in the statues.

Not too long, easily readable, and attention-grabbing.
