Late last Friday evening I went over to our local Barnes & Noble to purchase a copy, for my son, of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and supposedly final novel in the Harry Potter arc by J. K. Rowling. I have never seen a bookstore so crowded. Heck, I've never seen a McDonald's so crowded!
Monday afternoon I dropped in at Barnes & Noble again, and noticed a table with the new book stacked up on it. Most of the older books (largely in paperback) were there as well. And there were also two books, apparently new (I'd never seen them before), that purported to deduce what was going to happen in the final Harry Potter book.
???
It seems a little strange to me to start displaying and selling a book that predicts what is going to happen in another book that's already on the market ...
I don't think I'll buy a copy.
